Be Inspired: Watch this man jump from space

In order to develop real breakthrough innovations, the world needs dreamers. We need the people willing to look at what society says is impossible, and strive to push through that boundary.

One of my favorite examples from recent times was the Red Bull Stratos mission, which officially completed on October 14, 2012 when Felix Baumgartner jumped from 24 miles above the earth. The mission was to break the record for the longer human freefall, which involved the team having to develop a personal spacesuit which could safely bring a person back to earth after falling so fast that they break the sound barrier.

Now, normally in these articles I give people and companies advice on how everything relates to improving your innovation capabilities. But sometimes, its just as important to take a step back and just marvel at achievements like this which push society forward. Things like this usually happen only once in a lifetime and serve to show what is possible when teams put their minds towards solving an impossible challenge.

This video was recently released, and includes footage from the GoPro cameras aboard Felix’s suit. Watch it above; you can see the moment he becomes the first person to break the sound barrier, and be inspired.

What was the last thing that happened in your industry that changed what people thought was possible? Let me know in the comments below.
